The Walled Garden Nursery was established as a community interest company in late 2019 to create an accessible and vibrant community garden and plant nursery that connects people with nature through therapeutic horticultural programmes. We are run by a Board of Directors from our local community.

In 2020 42% of our income generation came from plant sales, not bad for our first year of trading in a year of COVID lockdowns.

 

We simply could not have got out off the starting block without some fabulous funders that were willing to support us in much needed capacity building. This year we have been able to start contracting a volunteer coordinator, therapeutic horticulturist and two amazing workshop instructors.

As we grow we aim to be even more self sufficient and have a target of 65% of our income coming from trading and only 35% through from grant funding.
