Willow
Workshops : 2nd Saturday of every month

The morning session is spent making a beautiful
plant tepee that can vary in size depending on your requirements
and your car size! Hazel can be used for the uprights to make a
more sturdy structure, ideal for climbing beans etc and more substantial
plants. Whereas a lighter, more delicate tepee can be made using
all willow, different varieties giving it a lovely two tone effect.
These look beautiful supporting sweet peas or something similar.
The afternoon session is spent making more crafty
items such as spirals, which can be used as bird feeders or look
lovely hanging in trees with t-lights and dragonflies and/or flowers,
depending on ability. You are also welcome to make something of
your choice in this session, but there would be a limited supply
of willow.
The morning session runs from 10 am to 1 pm and the afternoon session
runs from 2 pm to 5 pm

These half day sessions are £45 each and include refreshments.
* There is a small discount for doing the full day! *

All materials and tools are provided. Refreshments are included
and lunch can be bought at the Garden.

How
to book a willow course:
Please CLICK
HERE to visit the Organic Matters website for more
information or to book one of the Christmas Willow courses.
The willow used is grown in Somerset and the hazel is sourced locally.
Time spent working with natural and sustainable materials in such
a peaceful natural setting will be hard to beat.
The courses are run by Mary Cross who lives locally in
Beckington, near Frome. She has been working with willow for the
last four years
"After doing a few courses myself I was completely hooked on
the wonderful skill of weaving with willow. Initially to complement
Organic Matters, my ‘vegetable gardening for others’
business, I started with the plant climbers but soon increased my
skills with hurdles, rustic baskets and living willow structures.
I try to keep it as closely oriented to gardening and will soon
be adding bee skeps to my knowledge base. So keep an eye out for
further courses!"
